On NAA where there is a digitised record for the illustrious war service of Captain Darnell, his next of kin is Margaret McKay Darnell.
I think 2 of his sons appear to have enlisted in the next war and give their father as next of kin.

Thanks for that ! She is Margaret Mackay Darnell on NAA.
Wish I could find a birth ref for her in Victoria Australia circa 1879 !

Do you think the Margaret FINLAYSON b. 1876 with father Alexander and mother Isabella McKAY is a possibility?   There were no Margaret Finlayson births on the Pioneer Index between 1876 and 1888.
