marriage lookup Lanchester

I am looking for the marriage between Thomas Shield or shields to Mary between 1819 and 1826.  In the 1851 census Thomas was born in Horton and Mary in Kyo and they were living in Lanchester.
Any clues would be appreciated!

Hi. Did they have children by the names of John,George,and Elizabeth.
I have a gravestone for lanchester with Thomas who died age 74 and a Mary who died aged 68.It is a very weathered stone with lots of flaking. Here is the inscription
but bear in mind that there are lots of gaps. It may help if it is yours.
Family burial of Thomas Shield of Quaking House.
Elizabeth his daughter died Jan/30/1825 age 2 and a half years.
Elizabeth his daughter died  M??/5/18?? ages 5 and a half years
John his son died Feb/2/185?
Mary Shield aged 68 years
Thomas Shield Dec/??/1868 age 74 years
Also Thomas son of the names Feb/3/1877
Mary Shield died Feb/15/1869
Mary Shield died 1869.
If it is yours you may be able to fill in places where it is unreadable.

Hello Adamand, All I have is the County Durham marriage indexes for 1812-1837 here at home. No details other than what I gave you -- perhaps you could ask someone to try to find the family you seek in the 1841, 1851 and 1861 census -- especially the Thomas Shield who died in 1868. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you.....Pat

Very exciting!
This could be mine because the two Thomas' and mary tie up and Elizabeth could have been the daughter they had just after they married.  You also mentioned George, is his name on the inscription as well? as I have a George who disappears after 1851.  Are there any other Shield burials in Lanchester?

i wonder if this Thomas is the son of (or relation to) the Thomas Shields, of Fordington, that married Betty Green by licence on 30th Jan 1797 in Dorchester Holy Trinity, Dorset.

Hello Shield . There is another gravestone at Lanchester and here it is :-
Sacred to Thomas SHIELD of Kyo,who died 28/Jan/1853 aged 36 years.
Also Ann WATCHMAN mother of the above who died 20/June/1865 age 74 years.
Also Thomas WATCHMAN her husband who died August/26/1867 aged 68 years.
There is a George on the first posting but all that it readable is:-
George Feb 185? ?4 years.

THANK YOU!
You have half solved another mystery I had.  In the 1841 census through till the 1871 census, a John Watchman lives, firstly with Thomas and Mary and then until his death I presume, with their daughter Jane. I wondered who he was,  I thought maybe he was the brother of Mary, but obviously not.  OFF HUNTING!!!
