Creeve + Kinmore

My gt gt grandparents came to Doncaster England from Ireland in the 1850's. The only clue to their origin is in the 1861 census when they gave place of birth as he from Ireland Creeve and she from Ireland Kinmore. I cannot find two places so called , close together, in Ireland and I'm sure they would have married locally.
Can anyone who has a better knowledge of Ireland possibly give me a lead.

First of all, are you certain they married in Ireland? They might have either gone to England separately and married there or known each other in Ireland but he went to england for work and sent for her before getting married in Ireland.

No townland called Creeve in Ireland but there is a Creeve Parish in Co. Roscommon (Poor Law Union- Carrick on Shannon) and also Kilmore Parish in Co. Roscommon (same PLU). They might have put the Parish rather than townland on census form.

They had a daughter Mary when they arrived so I'm fairly sure they would have been married.
I shall scuttle off and look closely at my Roscommon map.

Thank you  - Morris and Glancey are not the most common names  - but still not very rare.

Hi there, yes it could be , I know they couldn't read or write so the census enumerator would have had to guess - time machine please!

Creeve is fairly sound tho!

If one of them gave a parish as the birthplace it is quite possible that the other one did so as well.

Thank you for your help - on one of the sites I found the parish priests adresses and I am going to write to them. They say they have records.
I feel quite hopeful.
I will let you know how it goes.
