Hi Rita,

I am also a Shucksmith descendant.

Your grandad Norman was the son of Mary Elizabeth Shucksmith nee Clark.

Mary was born in Broughton 3 February 1860 and died 11 July 1926.

She married my 2nd G Grandad Thomas Shucksmith (b.1854 - d.1885) of Beelsby 1 November 1876 in Broughton Parish Church.

Altogether they had five children, but unfortunately, Thomas died of Pneumonia 3 months before the birth of the fifth child in 1885.

After Thomas' death, Mary had five more children, including your Grandad Norman (b. 30 Sept 1895 in Broughton),.
Some of the birth certs for these last five children give Thomas as the father even though he was dead.
She went on to marry George Henry Barker in Bottesford St. Peter's church 16 July 1903.  I confess that I haven't done any research on any children for this marriage (never even thought about it until now).
Mary is buried in Brumby Cemetery, Scunthorpe with her first husband Thomas.

Norman had one son Bernard (1917 - 1977) and three daughters including your mother.

I have a lot more to tell if you are interested.

Kevin

Hi
There were no Juggins in Lincolnshire in 1881 census -- They were all in Bedford/Northants/Warwickshire.
Loads'an'loads of Shucksmith all over Lincs in 1881
