Hello all, I'm needing as much help as possible. William Trotter is my 6th great grandfather. He migrated from Scotland to Brunswick County, Virginia. He married Caroline Dill on 1724 in Slinford, Sussex, England. That is also were they had their first child named James Trotter Sr. who was born on 1725. The family then moved to Brunswick County, Virginia, were their other two children were born, one was named Phillip Trotter, and the other Nancy Trotter. William Trotter's dad is believed to also be named William but his mother's name is unknown. Caroline Dill Trotter's parents are also unknown. If anyone has William or Caroline's parents or grandparents then please let me know. Anyone needing information on them or anyone willing to help me then PLEASE contact me.. ;D

Hi

The only William Trotter baptised around the time that you mentioned on the Brick Wall thread ( 1699- 1700) is

7th April 1700, Ladykirk, Berwickshire. Father William Trotter. No mother's name is given. It is the only one with a father William from 1695-1705.

This information should be treated with caution as many of the Scottish parish records do not exist that far back and these would only include those baptised in the established church. Roman Catholic and other non-conformist baptisms would not be included. Though this period is marked by many struggles in the religious affairs of the nation.
