Hi doc

Scotland doesn't have inquests in the same way as England and Wales. Suspicious deaths are reported to the Procurator Fiscal. See this:

Hi docfraser,

Both 'Precognition' and 'Procurator Fiscal' are listed in the very useful RootsChat LEXICON of Genealogical Terms and Abbreviations at:
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,234766
Both are cross-referenced to another LEXICON topic 'Deaths in Scotland'.

The LEXICON gives links to RootsChat threads which concern the specific Terms or Abbreviations - a lot of interesting reading!

Unfortunately, it is unlikely that you will find anything more than is in the RCE (Register of Corrected Entries) report about the Precognition (investigation) carried out by the PF (Procurator Fiscal).  Incidentally, the PF does not inquire only into suspicious deaths but also into all cases of sudden unexplained death and into fatal accidents (the death you mention seems to come into the fatal accident category).

However, perhaps there might have been a report of the accident in the local newspaper(s) of the day?  It might be worth following this up ...

Regards,

JAP

You might find something in the Am Baile web site which has searchable newspapers.
