Eye Baptisms - LOCKWOOD
« on: Sunday 05 August 07 13:08 BST (UK) »
Would appreciate confirmation for the baptisms of the children of
Charles & Elizabeth LOCKWOOD
Have found submitted entries on the LDS site

Charles    16.10.1760
John         28.12.1762
Levi           6.05. 1771
Charlotte 20.05.1771
Sarah       20.05.1771
Elizabeth  20.05.1771
Elizabeth  18.04.1773
Lucy         30.09.1787 aged 10 yrs

am hoping that the 'job lot' baptisms in 1771 may include ages

regards
Myfi

Hi

I hope someone can help you. In the meantime, here's a little more info from the Suffolk Burials Index...

Levi Lockwood, bur. 4 April 1773 at Eye
Elizabeth Lockwood, bur. 18 April 1773 at Eye

Both recorded as the children of Charles and Elizabeth
Alas, ages weren't noted.

Elizabeth would appear to be the second Elizabeth - baptised, buried (and presumably born) on the same day. (Unless it was the mother who died?)

The first Elizabeth obviously died in infancy, but I can't see her burial record.

Thank you Dave for the burials

Could it be that they had their new baby daughter baptised while they were at the church having Elizabeth1771 buried ?.....have come across it before but not with the same first name.....how terribly sad.

much appreciated

H Myfi

Yes, I guess that's possible. Elizabeth I passes away just before Elizabeth II is born, one is buried and the other is baptised on the same day.

Hi Myfi

I checked the baptisms in the Eye PR, and all are as stated above, apart from Charles which read 17th October 1760.
Really sorry, but the "job lot" of baptisms don't have ages against them.

Not sure if you had the marriage already:

Charles Lockwood of Stowmarket
Elizabeth Stannard
(both signed their names)
21st June 1759 at Eye
Presence of: John Stannard (X), and Wm Lockwood (signed)

Kind regards
Anne

Sorry - forgot to say - no ages were given against the burials either.

Hello Myfi

I came across you Lockwood / Eye post via google.  I have been looking for:

Elizabeth Lockwood (b 23 Mar 1773, d 15 Mar 1851)
    - married Robert Howells (1) and James Barratt (2)
    - lived in London and Upton (Worcs)

Who had a sister
Charlotte Lockwood (b c 1769, d 25 Jan 1850)
    - married Thomas Hudson

and another sister
Sarah Lockwood (b c 1770, d ?)
    - married Thomas Crisp of Chillesford (Suff)

I am a direct descendant of Elizabeth Lockwood (1773-1851)
I wonder if any of these names match with your research?
