Hello. I have just received a birth certificate which gives place of birth in 1908 as Carmakill, Rhode, Edenderry, the rest of the family were born in 'Philipstown'
There's nothing on Google. Does anyone know about this place?
Thank you

Hi Poppyo,
The place you are looking for is Cannakill, Croghan, Rhode Co Offaly. Cannakill is a townland in Croghan DED. Would be very interested to know of the family name and I may be able to help.
Regards,

Hello Oliver. My uncle John Joseph Sheerin was born in Cannakill - in 1908.He died 1974 in Tullamore
His parents were Edward Sheerin b1873, a bootmaker, and Bridget nee Flynn b1875. Edward's residence at the time was Cannakill. The seven other siblings were born in Daingean
Do you know of these families? I think I have completed the Sheerins as far as possible, but have blanks for the Flynns
Thank you
