Looking for a book on the Barrington family...

Hi! I am looking for a book published privately in Dublin in 1917 by Amy Barrington about the Barrington family. I live in the States. Anyone know where I could look for said book? Thanks for any help, Judy

It really helps to get the title of the book. Have you tried searching anywhere for books by Amy Barrington?
With the name of the book you could approach your local library and if they do not own the book then as for it through the interlibrary loan system (there may now be a small charge for this). They will check in the area, statewide and then nationally for the volume. As a genealogy book it may be reference only- if so ask if it can be sent to your library to be used in the library (sometimes the lending library does allow this).
With the title you can check ebay, amazon, used book dealers, etc.
Now to find the title...

Thank you for the tips. I have checked the Library of Congress listings for the book (I searched by author) and none is listed and that is usually how I obtain an interlibrary loan. And the posting on the website looking for books is mine that I posted yesterday. I will continue to look! I also checked a few online bookstores like alibris and one other one that I obtained another old book from before. I haven't given up and thank you for your help, Judy

Is it the whole book you want to see or just a particular section? If only a few pages you might be able to get photocopies from a library outside U.S.
Have you tried posting anything on a site like genforum that has a surname page?

I really wanted to see if my particular Barrington line from the Waterford area of Ireland was mentioned. That's why I was hoping to find someone that had it or through interlibrary loan. I may have posted something to genforum for Barrington but nothing recently, at least not so recent I have a clear memory of it which doesn't mean a whole lot today! Judy

Hi mrstucci,

How about Co. Wexford rather than Waterford? I have a copy of a book called "The Genealogical Offfice, Dublin" which contains a Index of Will Abstracts held in the Genealogical Office. It shows there were a number of Barringtons in Wexford in the 1700s.
