Barclay
« on: Thursday 02 August 07 10:06 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I have hit the Irish brick wall, i am trying to find out where James Barclay my ggg gf was born, his mothers name and where he got married. I have looked at the LDS site and there is a pedigree entry saying he may have been from Antrim but the only document i have seen is the 1851 Scotland census saying he was born in Ireland.

here are the details i have so far James Barclay born 1812, Iron Miner, moved to Airdrie Lanarkshire Scotland around 1840/41/42 (can't find him in Scottish 1841 census) married to Esther or Jessie Livingstone born 1810 Ireland.

His death cert states fathers name as Samuel (iron miner) mother unknown.

Esther's father was Alexander Livingstone (Soldier) and her mother was Mary Smart.

4 of their children (they had 12) were born in Ireland Alexander 1829, Samuel (1831), James (1838), Anne (1838) and John (1839), Francis (1841) my gg gf was the first one born in Scotland.

If anyone could help me or point me in the right direction i would be most grateful.

Thanks

I am related to the same Barclay family as you. My ancestor was Elizabeth daughter of Francis who went to Alabama, had her first child in Scotland then back to Alabama then Nebraska.
