any help at all please
« on: Thursday 02 August 07 07:26 BST (UK) »
:'( Hi ,can anyone please shed some light my way so i can carry on in some direction ....
I have born 1829, "Daniel Kennedy" age 12 with his family in 1841 cencus...strowan/comrie.   but after this i cant find him in 1851 cencus (he would be 22 then ) , cant see him in marriages either .

he also has a brother "Donald kennedy"born 1828 who was not listed on 1841 cencus with family (age13).

And their sister "Ann Kennedy" born 1825, she too is not listed on 1841 cencus (age 16).

I cant fine them on marriges for comrie ,unless they married elsewhere,or maybe died young.
Their parents were "john & Janet kennedy (nee Robertson).

if someone can help that would be great ..then i can carry on from there..as at moment i am hitting the same wall each time .

   thankyou
 snowolf  :)

Hi,

have you tried this link?

http://www.originsnetwork.com/ScotsOrigins/SOSearchBC.aspx

It gets you to IGI searches, but quite good in the way it does it.

And don't suppose that they are still living in the exact same area. They may have moved about.

;D thankyou greenvalley & sylvia both for your help ...yes i try the scots origins ,which can be helpful at times ,but not what i was looking for this time ,.   unfortunatly sylvia these are not the same kennedy family that belong to me ,but thankyou for taking the time to look .
But some good news !!.....ive found Daniel on cencuses 1871,1881, and an extra bit of luck here ...found him and also his son (john's) family too in same street ,different house  in 1891 cencus .....and followed John into 1901 cenus

so hope i get so lucky looking for others

 thanks agian

snowolf,

I have found that Donald and Daniel were often used interchangeably in Scotland.

From the IGI:
John KENNEDY m Janet ROBERTSON 1821 Muthill Perthshire
They had, all Monzievard & Strowan:
Thomas 1822
Janet 1823
Ann 1825
Donald 1828
Mary 1830
John 1831
Caroline 1835
Elizabeth 1837
Charles 1839

If Ann survived, she may well have been out working in another household by the time of the 1841 census (were Thomas and Janet still at home?).

I suspect (well, I'm confident!) that Daniel in the 1841 and 1851 censuses is actually the same person as Donald b 1828.

Greenvalley has found Janet, and (presumably) sons Charles and Daniel in the 1851 - for full details of the census entry, you could download the image from ScotlandsPeople.

Hi JAP

the 1841 census shows the following children:

Caroline...6...1835
Charles...1...1840
Daniel..12..1829
Elizabeth..4...1837
Janet...40...1801 (Mother)
Janet...17...1824
John...38...1803 (father, profession Hedger)
John...9..1832
Mary...11...1830
Thomas..18..1823

So it looks very much like the family you found on IGI

Makes you wonder though where all the other young children went...

Hi Greenvalley,

There seems only to be Ann missing?  And she might not have survived or might well be working in another household (she'd be ca 15/16)

Herewith listed the children from the IGI (some are birth dates, some are baptisms) and in brackets whether they are in the 1841:
Thomas 1822 (Yes - aged 18)
Janet 1823 (Yes - aged 17)
Ann 1825 (No)
Donald 1828 (Yes - as Daniel aged 12)
Mary 1830 (Yes - aged 11)
John 1831 (Yes - aged 9)
Caroline 1835 (Yes - aged 6)
Elizabeth 1837 (Yes - aged 4)
Charles 1839 (Yes - aged 1)

JAP
PS: Sorry - I've just twigged that you must mean in the 1851 where you have only 23yo Daniel and 11yo Charles still with Janet!!  Well, they might not have survived or might all be elsewhere - even Elizabeth would have been 14 by 1851 and could easily be working in another household.
