I've never heard of it. I've looked at the KFHS list of Parishes & there's nothing there. Google suggests Grimston Gardens in Folkestone, Kent.

Thanks for looking.

All the references to roads etc. seem to be in Folkestone.

If you look on the place names list — http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/places/  there are 6 Grimstons but none are in Kent.

Looking at all the census years.  There are 4 people listed as having been born in Grimston but one is a mistranscription of Greenwich.

However no one is listed as living in Grimston, Kent. ???

So perhaps it's a very small place or a mistake.

Been thinking about this ;)

Being as he was baptised in Darenth, I wonder if perhaps it is meant to say "Green St Gn" ie. Green Street Green ??? :-\

Hi Casalguidi ;D
If you take a look at the link i put up on the other thread, you'll see that i did in fact find a reference to "Grimston" in kent:
"Edward Stanhope, of Grimston, Kent, whose burial here is recorded on the 23rd October 1619"

but unfortunately, that still doesn't tell us where it is...Many thanks for putting up this thread though ;)

The more I think about it, the more I think it probably is/should be Green St Gn and not Grimston at all - I do stand to be corrected though ;D

Green Street Green would make perfect sense with him being baptised in Darenth and it would be interesting to see just where they were living at the time of the 1841 census.
