Hi Barbara,
Dont forget that when the census was taken Ann would have been 2 yrs old as she would not of had her birthday yet. Also the date I gave was for a baptism not a birth. Sorry for the typo.

Hi Juju,

sorry, edited my post below:

To sum up, so far we found 2 likely candidates for birth reg for Ann 'nurse child' born Minshull Vernon living in 1871 with the Hulmes in Middlewich, either Ann Chesters Sep qu 1868 or Annie Jane Chesters Sep Qu 1869.

The one you've found can be ruled out I think as she was with her own family in 1871 census, and she would be the 1868 reg,  so I've been looking for another Ann in 1871 to fit the 1869 reg. and haven't found one.  Hopefully that means that that 1869 birth reg. could well be for the Ann born in Minshull Vernon.

I'll leave it to tofgem now to mull over what's been found and decide whether to order the cert...  :)

Hi everyone
Thanks a lot for your help. I had put this topic on hold, but I will check through your research and check it against mine. I am determined to solve the mystery somehow, sometime.

Hi everyone
I am revisiting this mysterious person, but I have still had no success as to her birth or christening.
I cannot find her on the 1911 census either.
However, I have found a death on FreeBMD which gives the death of Annie Chesters in J/A/S 1908 registered in Congleton, but the Cheshire BMD gives the death of an Annie Chesters in  1906 in Sandbach. Congleton includes Sandbach and Sandbach would fit in with her location on the 1901 census and the family with which she was living. Hoever: 1906 or 1908?
Please can anyone suggest any sources of Sandbach burials which could help?
