Callington - Burial Lookup in the 1830s, please
« on: Monday 30 July 07 06:01 BST (UK) »

I would like to request a lookup for details about the burial of William Hender / Hendor; he was the watchmaker in Callington during the 1830s.

William is not on the 1841 census and I can only presume that he possibly died between 1830 and 1841. I have found a death registered September 1838 for William Hender at Liskeard. However, I have no idea of his age on this death registration or if this is the William I seek.

Many thanks,

B

Hi B,

I see there is one listed in St Cleer (No too far away) Aug 15 1838 aged 61 which I think will account for the Liskeard Ref Sep 1/4

http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/moreinfo.php?ID=174097&dbtype=burials

The only Hender burials in Callington 1813-1837 are 3 children

Elizabeth 4 Jun 1816 aged 4
William 29 Mar 1821 Aged 1
John 17 Mar 1830 aged 2

Plenty besides this William at St Cleer

Thank you very much for the quick reply and information, Kris. It is possible this is William the watchmaker who apparently disappeared. However, I am surprised William's occupation was not noted on this entry.

Ciao,

B

Hi B,

Unfortunately most do not list an occupation sadly, some give a residence, children may list father, some wives list husbands name but alas not too many. At least these later ones (Once the forms came out in 1813) list an age, and often some of these other details as well, which can  certainly be helpful  :D
