This is one of only a couple of photo's I have of my Dad. He died when I was 9 years old.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Mavis,
I think the bars on your dad's sleeve may indicate his rank in the his branch of the Police service WWII.
If some kind person can bring it up a bit you might get an answer on the Armed Services Board.
