Nattress in Northumberland

Anybody come accross any Nattresses in Northumberland

Yes. Irving Nattrass played for Newcastle United in late 70s/early 80s and I think Barry Nattrass was in my brother's class in school (Hexham) around the same time. It is not a common name, but it is here and there. Not sure where Barry lived - may have been Newbrough, but would need to check.

Consider yourself lucky it wasn't Robsons, Armstrongs, Telfers or Murrays. The Tyne valley is thick with them! Good luck with your hunt. I am happy to help in any way I can, but not sure what help I can be. I'm currently living in Cambs, but visit my Mum in Newcastle regularly.

I also know there were Nattresses living in the Forest Hall Area of East Newcastle as few were in my school. Think Forest hall is classed as being in the parish of Benton and was classed as Tynemouth for registration of Births etc

My mother was a Nattress from Northumberland, but the family was originally from Durham (Shotton, Cassop, Darlington) early 1800s

My direct line came from the Allendale area of Northumberland and emigrated in 1849 to Lafayette Co, Wisconsin, U.S.A. I have been working on this for some time and have connected all known Nattrass' and related families in the valley. Let me know if I can help. Laurel
