Hi catswhiskers,
this is my first post. Hope my bit of personal rememberance is of some help.

When i was a child in SHIREMOOR in the 1950`s  the local grocers shop was run by a family called NATTRESS,
(i am assuming it was same as your spelling).

We lived in a flat rented from Mr NATTRESS who was a local landlord. Can`t remember first names but if u think this family could be linked could prob find out as a relative has connections to local sheltered housing which can be a fund of local info via residents.

The address would be ANN ST SHIREMOOR (or possibly MORLEY PLACE) half a mile down the road from the village of EARSDON.

Will do what i can. May take a few days.

Forest Hall by the way is approximately 6miles from Shiremoor.

The first name Harvey is circulating in my grey matter but this is not to be trusted these days. Will try to find info re any surviving Nattress`s but of course cannot promise.

Hello, I am the grand daughter of Raymond Nattress who was the Landlord 'Slogger' talks about in Shiremoor.  Raymond's son (my father) is Harvey. If you think we are the family you are looking for, please contact me.

My Nattrass ancestors were from around the Billy Row, Brancepeth area of Durham, England. Later at Shotton and Cassop/Coxhoe.
Also spelt Nattress Natress etc  :)

Hi Catswhiskers!
My mother was a Nattress from Northumberland, but the family was originally from Durham (Shotton, Cassop, Darlington) early 1800s

Hello all, does anyone know of a Mary Ann Nattrass/Nattress who may have married into a Wheatley family from Whickham, Co. Durham? (Sorry I don't have any idea of dates -- just verbal history... :'(  Thanks!  Pat

Hello
I went to school in Allendale the 1950/60s and we had some Natresses there. I have never heard the name since.
