MOLYNEUX Family of HAWKLEY HALL Wigan 1750s
« on: Thursday 26 July 07 11:10 BST (UK) »
anyone got any information on the MOLYNEUX family of Hawkley Hall, (Wigan) please?

Specifically Richard Molyneux, wife Jane and his Family

Can anyone find out anything about this family please (see below)? i.e. BMD etc. - I have had no luck whatsoever.

From Conversation Pieces : a survey of English Domestic Portraits & their painters [of the 18th & 19th Centuries]. With notes on the illustrations by Michael Sevier. Pages 54, 99 & Plate 59.
SITWELL, Sacheverell : Michael Sevier. 1st edition. ISBN 0713407212

Painting of The Molyneux family of Hawkley Hall by A.Devis c.1750. (incorrectly titled the Molyneux Family of Sefton) (Private collection). "Sir Richard Molyneux, his wife Jane and his 3 children - Richard, Bryan William and William."

With reference to the Molyneux picture by Arthur Devis (1711-1787) - "The family portrait were not ancestors of the Earls of Sefton and were only remotly related to them. It shows Richard Molyneux of Hawkley, his wife Jane, his sons Richard, Bryan William and William; with Hawkley Hall showing in the background."
I am researching the family named Molyneux (or possibly Molineux, Molineaux and Molyneaux (or with 2'LL's or without the 'X')), of South East Lancashire (Wigan, Pemberton and Ormskirk area), England.

Also researching; Fairhurst, Lancaster (Lancaster-Fairhurst), Griffith and Hayden (Haydon)
