Crematorium in Essex
« on: Monday 23 July 07 11:17 BST (UK) »
Hi

I have a relative who lived in Stambourne, Essex, but died in Addenbrokes hospital in Cambridge in 1961.  I am trying to find where he was buried/cremated.

I have phoned Chelmsford Crematorium with no luck,  are there any other crematorium in the area?  I don't know Essex at all.

Many thanks

Anne

HI Anne

have you phoned Addenbrookes?
they should have an archive department, they may be able to tell you which Undertakers took your relative

Thankyou for both of those replies, I will check them out.  I never thought of contacting the hospital.

Hi, I know of a Stambourne in the north of Essex and also a Stambourne Green. The main towns near by are Cambridge (where Addenbrooks Hospital is) Haverhill, Saffron, Walden, Sudbury, Sible Headingham. Sudbury and Haverhill are just over the boarder in Suffolk.
Go on google earth for a look at the village, not much has changed there probably as it was very rural when I last saw it about 5 years ago.
Regards, Jennifer.
PS, Check out Colchester too.
