Hi there.

Does any one know or who I could contact for information relating to the Mole family who were living in Duns Tew?  There must be someone or some family history group / genealogy group there??

Cheers  :P

Hi Tempest  Duns Tew is about five miles away from home for me.  It's quite small & I haven't heard of a family history group there (tho' I may have missed it!).  However there is a good local history/genealogy section in Oxford Library (Westgate Centre  Oxford OX1 ???)  Nice helpful people.  Why not try a line to them?

Hi,I'm also researching the Mole family from Duns Tew.I'm not related to them myself but my partner John is the gt gt gt grandson of David Mole and Elizabeth Sarah Hirons.
I'd be happy to share what information I know and I have some parish registers and the Oxfordshire census for 1851-1901 which may be of help.
I am especially interested in the medical history of the Moles. My partner and his father have inherited a rare muscle disease called Central Core Disease and I am trying to find out where it originated.
Best wishes.Jane :)

Well believe it or not David MOLE and Sarah Hiron are out on one of the distant twigs of my ALLEN tree their daughter Sarah married Jesse CANNING in Duns Tew 31 May 1855 He was son of John CANNING and Elizabeth Thornton John CANNING was one of 7 children of Valentine CANNING and Betty COLLETanother son (another Valentine had a daughter who married James ALLEN who in turn was the brother of my gtgt gran Eliza Allen Hope this isn't to complicated I have a bit on the CANNINGS I think I only followed this branch so far as I have MOULEs who are often spelt MOLE on my direct line but they are from Worcestershire I just (wrongly)felt there may have been a link. Anyway if you want any of the Canning stuff let me know Sorry I cant help with the medical situation though

Hi George,
Some of my Satchell/Satchwell family were married/born in Duns Tew.  Would you be able to check the  PR's for me and see if you have records of Satchell/Satchwells.

The following I'd be particularly interested in:-

Richard Satchell/Satchwell ch 19/12/1802 ? married Hannah 1825 Duns Tew
children that I know of christened, probably Duns Tew:
George 8/1/1826 married Kezia Harper 24/5/1859 Duns Tew
(Mary) Amelia ch 9/3/1828 married Daniel Wilins 1848
Mark ch 8/8/1830 married Elizabeth 1852 (Deddington)
Elizabeth ch 2/12/1832
Daniel ch 23/9/1836 married Martha Jarrett/Jowett
William ch 30/6/1839 married Hannah
Hannah ch 25/9/1842
Eli ch 8/2/1846 married Mary Ann 1869 Deddington

Hi there Mel,
Since I last put that message on this site I have moved and also changed my user name, so as a result your message did not come up on my emails. Fortunately for you another person with whom I have contact advised me that there was acry for help on Duns Tew so here I am with what I have found for you.
Baptisms.
19 Dec 1802, SATCEL, Richard, s/o Richard & Mary. Dunstew.
30 Dec 1804, SATCHELL, Elizabeth, d/o William & Mary (not on your list)
29 Mar 1807,       "          John, s/o            "             "              "
14 May 1809, SATCHELL, Martha, d/o       "              "             "
21 Jul 1811     SATCHEL, Anne,       "         "              "             "
12 Nov 1815, SATCHELL, William, s/o        "              "             "
12 Jun 1825 LINES/SATCHELL, Thomas, illig. s/o Thomas LINES of Hillesdon, farmer &  Elizabeth SATCHELL of Dunstew. (again not on your list.
8 Jan 1826, SATCHEL, George, s/oRichard & Hannah, lab.
9 Mar 1828, SATCHELL, Mary, d/o Richard & Hannah, lab. NB."The nurse who named this child was by mistake understood to have said Mary but the Mother's intention was that her name should have been Amelia." The Baptismal Index shows AMELIA and not Mary.
8 Aug 1830, SATCHELL, Mark, s/o Richard & Hannah. lab.
2 Dec 1832, SATCHWELL, Eliza, d/o Richard & Hannah, lab
25 Sep 1836, SATCHWELL, Daniel, s/o  "             "
30 Jun 1839,            "         William   "    "             "
25 Sep 1842, SATCHALL, Hannah, d/o   "             "
8 Feb 1846, SATCHWELL, Eli, s/o           "             "
8 May 1860, SATCHWELL, Joseph, s/o George & Kezia. (again not on your list.)

These are the only baptisms on the Duns Tew PR's for these surnames.

The only marriage that took place in Dunstew was
24 May 1859, SATCHELL, George, FA. bach. lab. Dunstew, s/o Richard.lab.
X HARPER, Kezia, spin. Dunstew, d/o Henry, lab.  By Banns.
Wit. Moses HARPER, X Hannah SATCHELL.

There was a banns read for Amelia SATCHELL but no indication of the location where the marriage took place, not in Dunstew.
The OMI was also checked and nothing could be found for the oithers you mentioned, nor was there any in Deddington either ?
Somew burials I came across were as follows :
24 Oct 1813, SATCHELL, Hannah, 2
27 Jan 1821        "          Mary, wife of Wm SATCHELL, 42.
1 Nov 1824,        "          Martha, 2 of Upper Worton.
10 May 1825,      "          John 18 of Dunstew.
2 Aug 1827 LINES/SATCHELL Thomas. s/o Thomas LINES & Elizabeth SATCHELL.
31 May 1838, SATCHELL, William, 68, of Woodstock.

And that is it from the Dunstew PR's hope these are to yourliking.
Cheers,
George, PS, Please note change of user name since 2007.

Many thanks George.
All of these folk are related to my Satchwell family whom I've traced back to Samuel Satchell of Hamton in 1700's. My great grandfather George was born in Rowington & immigrated to NZ in 1874. I've traced his two brothers William & Henry but loose his brother Thomas after the 1861 census. Very frustrating, but thats another story. Being way down under it is not always easy to access records, although much easier these days with computers. I am very grateful to receive this info.
