Want the best rechargeables on the market?
« on: Thursday 19 July 07 14:07 BST (UK) »
Just prior to my recent trip north I read about a new nmh battery that holds it's charge. unlike all other rechargeable nmh batt's which will go flat after a relatively short period, Sanyo's eneloop batt's will hold thier charge for more than could be reasonably expected.

What does that mean? it means that I can have a set of charged batteries in either my camera or as a backup and even after a couple or three months without using - they will still have sufficient charge for me to use. Unlike most batteries that would be useless after this sort of period.

These batteries are as expected more expensive - but not by much, so if it sounds interesting, have a look at this independent review.

Those look very good indeed, Den. Thanks for listing  :)

For those in UK, here's a link to suppliers:

I have only been using mine for a short period of intensive use, but the real test will be when I put my camera away for a month or so. I am confident though.

"Sanyo claims a self-discharge rate of about 15% per year (compared with about 1% per day for regular NiMH offerings)"

Uniross Hybrio are the same technology. They are available at Wilkinson stores. (around £8 for four AA ) I have been using them for a few months. Very good they DO hold charge for much longer.
