Another look for Anne LEWIS 1841
« on: Wednesday 18 July 07 21:39 BST (UK) »
hi wonder if anyone can locate an Anne Lewis for me on the 1841 census.  she was born around 1816 and on other census birth place is Llawhadden

I did ask a while back as I was after a Anne Lewis who is the daughter of Evan Lewis who is a labourer.

I thought that I had found the 1841 census for her with help.

this is Wiston, Pembroke,

Evan Lewis head 50 labourer
Mary 50
Ann 30
Martha 27
Griffith
William Rees lodger 15
John Hill 5
Jane (Manter ?) 2

Ref. HO107/1445/21/16/10

Though this was the correct family until I searched the 1851 and Anne is still at home. But Anne married in Cosheston in 1846.  Another clue was that a William Rees was a lodger there and Anne married a John Rees and he had a brother william who was the same age.  But I have william already on the 1841 with his parents.  (Presuming that the family I have is correct)

So where could anne be and of course still looking for an Evan Lewis who is a labourer.

any help or tips would be appreciated in what to do next.

Where was Anne living at the time of her marriage? Where was John from? Any clues in the names of the witnesses?
Places of birth aren't on the 1841 census. Also, she's unlikely to be living at home so not easy to spot.

Hi

John Rees and Anne Lewis were listed on their marriage certificate from Cosheston and they got married in Cosheston.  I do know that John was from Narberth or so it states on the census records.  The witnesses on the certificate one is unreadable the other is Thomas Rees.  So I am presuming that Thomas could be Johns brother.

Did you ever find what you where looking for ??
I have come across a baptism of an Anne Lewis at Llawhaden in 1814. I suspect her parents are David & Mary Lewis or James & Alice Lewis.
Since David & Mary Lewis remain in Llawhaden in 1841 with no Anne, one must plump for the parents being James & Alice, unless of course you know different.
I can x/ref the source at the Rec Off if required.
