HILL and JENKINS Families of Redcliffe
« on: Wednesday 18 July 07 08:08 BST (UK) »
My g-g-g-grandparents are Charles Hill (b c1815) and Harriet Jenkins (b c1813) who married in Guernsey in 1838.

They are said to from Redcliffe in Somerset (although on one census Harriet says she is b Bristol). Redcliffe Bay ??

Parents are given as William Hill and James Jenkins.

I've come to a complete full stop trying research further back.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them !

Thanks

Hi Francis

There is an area in the centre of Bristol called Redcliffe, around the harbour and St Mary Redcliffe Church - might be worth trying this area.

More info on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redcliffe,_Bristol

Good luck.

Very interesting !

So Charles could be Redcliffe Bay, Som and Harriet Redcliffe, Glos ??

I've always wondered why they got married in CI, as they must have known each other if from the same small place. Over age of consent so didn't have to elope.

I'll investigate.

Thanks.

Francis
