Bozzle,

A search engine such as Google will reward you if you simply search for:
Leven

There are many good map sites around where you yourself can search for places.
For example:
http://www.streetmap.co.uk
http://www.multimap.com
And for older maps:
http://www.old-maps.co.uk/

Not to mention trying a search in Genuki (Genealogy of UK and Ireland) at:
http://www.genuki.org.uk

To help with the confusion, Leven, the town, is on the coast, quite a few miles from Loch Leven. In terms of genealogy searching, Leven is in Scoonie parish or registration district.

http://www.nls.uk/maps/early/os_scotland_2nd_ed_list.html

Click on Sheet 40 - Kinross.
Scoonie is the pink-coloured parish against the eastern edge of that map, a short distance above the centre line. Click on it a few times until the writing is legible and you will find Leven.

Loch Leven is across the map in Kinross parish (yellow coloured) on the centre line, most the way towards the west side of the map.

As the birth you are looking for is about 1907, you may not find it on the ScotlandsPeople website until next year (for 1907), or later for later years, when its 100 year closure has expired. In the meantime, it can be found in New Register House, Edinburgh, or Park Circus, Glasgow.

And, bozzle, let's hope that you are quite sure the place you want is in Scotland  ;)  If you enter the word Leven on the Streetmap site and search for a GB place, you will get many hits - including a town called Leven in Yorkshire  ::)

A Google for:
Genuki + Leven
will bring up hits relating to the town in Fife, the town in Yorkshire, to Loch Leven in Kinross-shire, etc ...

The relevant page for Leven in Fife is:
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/sct/FIF/parishes/Scoonie/index.htm

The diagrammatic map of the Fife parishes on that page might be a help in placing Scoonie for you in general terms before you look at the excellent detailed map site posted by ADP.
