William Blythe in Durham Gaol 1901
« on: Tuesday 17 July 07 05:44 BST (UK) »
Hi Guys,
It appears my GG Grandfather William was in Durham Gaol on the night of 31 Mar 1901, What for??
I wonder if SKS can tell me how I find what he was in there for and how long he had been sentenced to. He is entered as William BLYTH Iron Moulder Aged 45.
I am also concerned as to whether he died in Gaol because he is mentioned as Deceased by 14th June 1902.
Any direction would be appreciated. I believe he was living at 6 Brewery Square, Stockton on Tees in 1891.
Kind Regards,
David    :o :o

Hi David,
A report in a local newspapr of the time is your best bet.

You can look for his death on the GRO index or freebmd.  A copy of his death cert will give his place of death

Choose “Complete BMD Index Ranges & Images 1837-1983

The partially transcribed index (freebmd) can also be searched on the same website or at http://freebmd.rootsweb.com

Copy certificates can be obtained online at www.gro.gov.uk
