Oh Richard!! I didn't post that link just so that you would send me a photo!!!!   ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Have you seen the photo restoration board? If you have any old photos that you would like dated or restored, or even coloured, post it to them, and I can guarantee you will get some fabulous results!!!  :D :D :D

Judy
Best wishes, Judy :-))

Hi oldtimer/Judy - not my own wedding thankfully (that was elsewhere on a sunny day) - I was a guest so could wrap up. It was a long time ago, so maybe there's a better heating system now (hope so for their congregation's sake).
I agree my user name is unpronouncable - sorry - at the time I first joined I wasn't inspired - did think about changing it when I started using the site more regularly, but found it would be complicated & stuck with it by default.

For Richard/turenne - I'll second the recommendation of the photo restoration board - they really are good, so if you've any faded/creased/discoloured etc photos do give it a go.

Many thanks for reminding me where the Unicorn is.  I used to deliver papers from the newsagents in the row of shops.

Coincidentally, after leaving Hale Barns, we went to live in Bowdon in East Downs Road, which is fairly near to the Church.

Liz

ps.  I thought I had logged off on Friday and decided to have computer free weekends in future, which is why I have only just seen your postig.  When I returned to Roots it seemed I had been permanently logged on.  I don't know how, but sometimes when I click on a link sent to me via e-mail it opens a 2nd page and I have to log off both of them.

Hello Judy

You may wish to try the following:-
http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/ENG/ENG-CHS-ST-MARYS-BOWDON.html

It is a Rootsweb board for Bowdon Parish.  You could initially go to the Archive via the link and Search for Moore.  I got 13 hits.  The Bowdon Archivist was on the list but as I no longer subscribe I don't know whether that is still the case.  It may be useful anyway.

As I've already said I'm hoping for more on Moore  :)

Regards
Reiver

Thanks Reiver

I had a quick look on the list but could find none of my Moores from Hale Barns  :(

However, I will subscribe to it and see if there is any more information available!

Thanks a lot for your trouble. Judy
Best wishes, Judy :-))

Hi Mshrmh

I had the same problem with my user name - I must have tried twenty different names but all I chose were already in use! So as a last resort I tried "Oldtimer" and it was accepted! So Oldtimer I became!!

Richard

Hello Richard and welcome to Rootschat.  I lived in East Downs Road in 1960-62, so many moons ago, although all my children except the  last one were born in Southfields Maternity Home which was on Langham Road (and I think the corner of Richmond Road) and is now flats as far as I know.  We could get from our back garden through some open land to the back entrance of Southfields.  My young brother often used to go in to post letters etc. for the patients.
