Adoption records since 1965.
« on: Thursday 12 July 07 16:07 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

Please can someone tell me if there is any other locations to search the Adoption index other than the FRC in London?

Also, does anyone know if there is an age range limit adopting parents have to be within during about 1965?

Many thanks.

Phil32.

I know that in 1967 some adotion societies were not happy about people over 40 adopting children

Only the adotee can ask for the records.  http://www.familyrecords.gov.uk/topics/adoption.htm

Since 2005 If you are an adoptee you can obtain your birth record in England and Wales at least.

Also from 30 December 2005 changes to the law enable birth relatives to also apply for access to an adopted person’s adoption registration. However Access to Adoption Records for birth relatives must be done via Intermediary Agencies.

My children are adopted and I would help them if they wanted to find out about their natural parents.  I would be curious if it were me.  I have all the paperwork about their adoptions and they mention the mother's name.

Did you watch Nick Campbells programme.
