I've just re-read (for the 10th time) all about the Battle on Wikipedia but I can't find anything remotely like the words!

Mr Lloydy has just been having a look aswell and he thinks the first word could be Lewis, and two possibilities for the second:

Either,  Gillipe (or something like that!), or something completely different, and not a name......As Life

It was suggested earlier that the word 'on' ends the third line, when it's actually part of the name Omdurm an.
