Marriage?
« on: Wednesday 11 July 07 01:32 BST (UK) »
I have been looking for the marriage of my Great Grandmother. Although she was born and bred elsewhere, at the time of her marriage she was working for a Doctor Lockwood, in service, at Kirkburton. Would she have returned to her home in Wath Upon Dearne to marry or would her Kirkburton address have been the home Parish?
Her name was Mary Bell and she married William Edward Fielding in about 1860. Can't find anything on the IGI as I think it is too late for them.

The only marriage of William Edward FIELDING and Mary BELL I can see was in 1884.  Do you have them together on the 1871 census?

Oh thank you so much. It is the one I wanted as his name was William Edward.
I am really grateful for your time and effort.

Dear Penine,

William Edward Fielding (born Bawtry 1860) and Mary Bell (born Wath) were my GG Grandparents, so I assume we are talking about the same people. Might be worth sharing info.

Hi there!

My great grandfather was Donald Fielding who was I believe the son of the above mentioned William e Fielding and Mary Bell, I presume that you are descended from one of the other children (Alice, Ethel, Wilfried, Hilda or "GB?"). Our grandparents would no doubt have known each other as cousins I think ...in which case we are something like 3rd cousins! .

You can send any info via my private email if you want: nick.frankfurt (at) googlemail.com as I only drop by here every week or so.

Ive got that fielding line back to Edward Fielding from Scaftworth in 1811, roughly 2 miles from where my great grandmother Fielding died 170 years later - not great movers in those days!
