Baptisms Sculcoates, Hull
« on: Tuesday 10 July 07 19:39 BST (UK) »
Hi There

I'm wondering if anyone has access to baptisms in any of the churches in Sculcoates, and is able to look up a baptism for an L Moore (male) in 1898.  I'm wanting to confirm if there is a person of this name whose parents are John Moore and Jane Elizabeth Parker.

Any help is really appreciated.

Many thanks.

Sally.

Hi

Baptisms could take place weeks, months and sometimes years after a birth so searching through the baptismal records of every church in Sculcoates is not really an option.

The 1901 census has a number of male "L Moore" entries for Yorkshire but only one living in Sculcoates

Leonard Moore aged 2 parents Fred & Rose.  Leonard was actually b Kingston upon Hull

There are no entries for a male L Moore who was actually born in Sculcoates

The Sculcoates 1901 has a John Moore with wife Jane Elizabeth - amongst their children are a son William A Moore aged 1.

There is a John Moore with a wife Jane E  - youngest child was Jessie aged 10

Here's the Yorkshire free bmd website:

http://www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk/  and on it you will find your couple married in St. James church, Hull, which was probably the parish the bride lived in prior to marriage.

Sculcoates is a parish in north Hull, as per genuki:-

Hi There

Many thanks for your messages.  I've since found out that the L Moore I had is nothing to do with my Jane Elizabeth Moore.  There happens to be two people of this name, born the same time in the same place, to make things confusing!

Sally.
