Help with my ancestors from Ireland please!!!!!

I am desperate for any help to try to locate where in Ireland my ancestors came from. I have posted queries before but feel a little nearer to thinking they came from County Down or Armargh.
Does anyone know if a lot of families went to Scotland around 1825? I'm looking for Thomas Storey or Storie b. around 1790 he married Elizabeth Campbell (her parents were John Campbell & Elizabeth Thomson) & they had Robert b. around 1818, Margaret b. around 1819 & John b. around 1816 they then went to Scotland & settled in Ayrshire where they had more children. Their son Henry married Jean Lawrie who's parents Stewart Lawrie & Mary Robertson came from County Down. Also William Skeffington b.about 1816 in Ireland, his parents were Louis Skeffington & Somebody Craig. One of their daughters married a Thomas Shearer who also came from County Down.
Any clues or help would be very much appreciated

Below I have copied a story from the Belfast Newsletter paper with regard to a number of persons who were arrested on suspicion of being United Irishmen in 1797.  My ancestor Israel Milliken was definitely involved and a couple of the others were hanged as a result.  It would be cool if this was your Thomas Storey, he was a printer of the Northern Star which was the United Irish  newspaper!!

"1 May 1797, Belfast News-Letter, Ireland, p. 3. 
The newspaper notice is as follows:
"This morning, eleven prisoners, under charges of High Treason, were sent off for Dublin, from the Artillery barracks here, guarded by a very strong detachment of the 22nd regiment of light dragoons, viz:

Joseph CUTHBERT,    Taylor
John GORDON,       Woolen Draper
Alexander GORDON,    Woolen Draper
Thomas STOREY,       Printer
Felix O'NEAL,       Schoolmaster
Patrick CLEERY,       Clerk to Mr. SPEERS
William DAVISON
Robert BLACK,       Publican
Alexander ESLAR,      Publican
Israel MILLIKIN,       Clerk to Mr. S. CLARK, Hatter

"The Printer is authorised and desired to publish the following Advertisement."
"John KINGSBURY the Butcher, who was inhumanly Assassinated a few nights since, near Drum-Bridge, by a set of Ruffians from Belfast, that way-laid him and murdered him, as appeared by Examinations on Oath, taken immediately after the fact, apparently for his principles, which he had that day expressed to be hostile to United Irishmen."
"The way in which that business was misrepresented in a certain paper, seemed calculated to encourage such horrid proceedings, although possibly not so intended."
"Joseph CUTHBERT, Thomas POTTS, Thomas STOREY, and Charles O'DONNELL, all of Belfast, were committed on Tuesday last to Carrickfergus gaol, charged on oath with entering into a conspiracy to murder; and this day, John GORDON was committed for the same crime.  Belfast, November 18, 1796"

Recent new Website set up by the Belfast News Letter has led me to discover the activities of John & Thomas Storey, sons of George Storey, farmer, of Island Lodge, County Antrim. Both men were Printers Thomas had his own Printing Business as advertised in the News Letter of 1794 where he specialised in printing hand bills & posters. John was a Printer with the Northern Star Newspaper, voice of Henry Joy McCracken's United Irishmen.
Thomas was arrested in 1796 but miraculuously escaped from Belfast gaol and emigrated to America where he stayed 16 years before returning to Ireland and a successful career.
John, sadly, was executed in July 1798 with James Dickey, his friend and an Attorney, and Byers another United Irishman activist. Their heads were displayed on spikes on the Market-house at the corner of Waring Street & North Street (ex Northern Bank HQ) until General Nugent ordered their removal as a gesture towards a peaceful settlement.
I am searching for any American connections to these Storeys, particularly Thomas who must have made an impression during his 16 years in America. I will continue reading the News Letter Newspaper on micro-film in my quest to discover where these Storeys settled after the Rebellion."

John Storey was hanged outside Market House, High Street Belfast.

found this on 1841 census on ancestry:

William Skiffington age 25, born about 1816 in Ireland. Living at St Quivox  parish in Ayrshire in Kilmanrnock Street. he's a German clock maker

Other people in the house are Margaret, 20 born in Ayrshire, Mary 4, Lewis 2 and William 1, all born in Ayrshire.

Also found a Thomas Sterry, born 1791 in Ireland, also living in St Quivox, Klmlarnock Street. he's a coal miner. Wife Elizabeth, 50, also from Ireland. Children are
John, 24 born in Ireland, coal miner
James, 17, born in Ayrshire, coal miner
Thomas 14, born in Ayrshire, coal miner
Henry, 12, born in Ayrshire, coal miner.

Don't know if these are your guys, but you could try to find the marriages you know about. On IGI it says that
Henri Storie married Jean Lawrie on 31 december 1855 in Ayr and they had a son Henry born 09 JUL 1867  Tarbolton, Ayr, Scotland

Just occurred to me that you already have this info and are just looking for news from Ireland. Can't help you there I'm afraid.

Hi Gary,

What a story! (Just realised what I've just written story storey storie).
My Thomas was only born about 1790 BUT I have just got his death certificate 1865 in Ayr Scotland & where the names of his parents should be there is just a scribble through it! They were very keen in Scotland with the information on their certificates. It seems funny nobody knew the names of his parents though?

Thanks for the info but you're correct, I have all this information. I have exhausted the bmd certificates. I read that 1855 bmd's gave more info & I managed to find some for my ancestors but they don't give where in Ireland they were born. The same goes for poor law applications they all just say born Ireland.
I think I've come to a stop where Ireland is concerned.
I have been on emerald ancestors & found a marriage for Lewis Skeffington & Elizabeth? in Londonderry 1807 so may follow that lead.
