I have a older friend who is researching the FAWKES family of Peter & Eliza of Bisley, Glou. She is descended from their son Stephen C Fawkes & her name is Janet Austin nee Fawkes. She has quite a bit about Peter's accident & is willing to share. Would love to hear from you re Peter & Eliza,
Jenny

I am looking for Fawkes families from Bisley.
My 3x great grandfather Peter Fawkes, a stone mason, was born in Bisley, 1812.
He had a brother and two sisters: Isaac b. 1815, Esther b. 1830 and Ruth b. 1833.
His parents were Richard b. abt. 1780 d. 1840 who married Esther Ridler.
Richard had one brother, William.
Richard's father's name was William.
By 1861 Peter's family had moved to Camberwell, Surrey, but there is no trace of Peter.
Peter's brother Isaac was a woollen draper and lived in London for most of his working life, but after his retirement and wife's death, he moved back to Bisley, married again and had two more children.

Jenny and Thefoxcovert,

I also have a connection to the Fawkes family of Bisley, with Hannah Fawkes ch 10.5.1835 Bisley, born c1833. Her parents were William Fawkes and Anne Goulding. Her siblings were Roda 1835, Elizabeth 1837 and William 1839.

Hannah went on to marry Joseph Ballard in chelsea, Middx and had 7 children.

The 1841 census and Hannah's marriage cert state William Fawkes was a sawyer.

Do either of you think we have a connection?

Dear Rootschatters

I am going to lock this thread now.

1) because it is getting rather long!

2) because it is getting very difficult to see replies and untangle which post they refer to.

If you are new to the site and have just discovered a connection to someone on this thread, can I suggest that you either

A) send a Personal Message to the person who you share a common ancestor with, or

B) post a new thread on the Gloucestershire board with the surname you are interested in the title, together with FAO (username of person who posted)

For example "WEBB family in Dursley, FAO Arranroots"

If you would like to post your own ancestor's details, start a new thread as usual.

Any questions/ problems please feel free to send me a message by PM

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)
