Hi Dee,

Thanks for your email back, about photos of flowery field schools, I would appreciate any if possible, perhaps the front of the School, I dont suppose they have one with the name of the school up.

Appreciate whatever,  As  I am trying to get  a scrapbook together one day, of Hyde where I once lived, Where did you live Dee,? or do you still live in Hyde??? You said you knew some Leah's do you remember their names??
I  was born at 8 Elizabeth Street  off Manchester Road Hyde, My Grandad had a furniture shop at the corner of Elizabeth ST and Manchester Road Hyde, untill he died in 1955, then it was owned by  a lady called Alma   and was a dress shop ??
dont know if you knew that area or the shops,  Later when i was about 12 we moved to Clarendon Road HYde.  then in 1967  emigrated here to Australia.

Regards
Barbara Mcvey(Leah)

Hi

No problems about the photos, I will do what I can.  Ok the Leahs that I knew lived on Wilson Street, Hyde, just round the corner from Leigh Street School, and Nelson Street.  The children were born around 1960-70.   I didnt know the parents.    Elizabeth Street still stands, well part of it.  The rest was where the motorway is now.  I was born and raised in Hyde.

I have just tried this link

http://www.tameside.gov.uk/history/archive.php3

again and it does work if you type

Flowery Field School

(not schools) in the Search the Archive box. The photo of the school is the seventh on the page, preceeded by photos of class groups with their class teachers.

Hope this helps.  :)

HI Katy,

Just a add on, I remember Hart rd, off Old road, and I went to St Stephens Church, Youth club, and Church girls Brigades.  My freind Barbara Lees lived on Hallbottom  Road, I think it was called  that ,just down from St stephens over the bridge and to the right, arround a few street, I also had a Gt Grandma living in Keswick Ave over the bridge and to the left, actually when I was growing up I thought she was my Grandma, my dads Mother, but she was actually his Grandma, so that made her my GT Grandma. I had  a Grandma living on dukinfield road almost opposite Keswick Ave.

HI Indisvanyar,

Thanks for your last email, and I have just been in to the site you gave me, and yes I get in and have seen those photos, I was on a few of them it was one of my classes, I dont know who put the photos up, it says donor by Mrs. B .Mcvey that is me, I dont remember putting any photos up there, as I dont know how to do them, My name is Barbara Mcvey it was Barbara Leah, they have it as Barbara Leech,  so somebody else who had that photo may have put it on I think. I have the photos in my  album.  I really wanted a photo of the actual School building, either Infant/Junior or secondary, but I see there was a older photo of what looks like the infant school at Flowery field, so may have to be  satisfied with that..
I  dont know why I did not get in the site  where the photos are before, but never mind I have at last found them.

thanks again for your help.

Regards

Hi Barbara

I have just found this site which may be of interest to you as there are many photos of Hyde featured here, including some of Flowery Field mill and several of named streets which you may remember.
