Trying to find a photo of flowery field schools
« on: Tuesday 10 July 07 08:28 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I would like to get a photo of Flowery field Infants  and or/ Junior or secondary school, in Newton Hyde Cheshire. I went there starting about 1950 till 1961 I left at 15 .
If possible that era time, or if not later.
Just wondered if any one has any photos of the schools?? and I could get some copies of them, if not does anyone know where I could  perhaps obtain some copies of the school.

appreciate any help if at all possible thanks.

Hi Brains
The best way to look for Photo's is to do a google search
even if you don't find a photo. It might tell you if any archives have any which they might do if the school was demolished.

A couple of web site addresses here:

http://www.friendsoffloweryfield.co.uk/ (this one has a photo page, but no suitable photos yet, although I reckon they would help if asked.)

http://www.floweryfield.tameside.sch.uk/

I vaguely recognise the name Flowery Field school, but can't place it.  I lived in Windermere Road, Hyde back in the early 50's.  I've just had a look on google maps, and Yes, it was pretty close to me, so maybe I went there myself.

I do like google maps.  I've just found my great aunts house on Thorncliffe Ave.

There is a photo of Flowery Fields school on the Tameside website/Image archive

http://www.tameside.gov.uk/history/archive.php3

If you type in Flowery Fields School you will find a selection of images of pupils and one of the school itself - my husband was also a pupil there in the 50s.

HI Indis Vanyar,

Thanks for your email back, I looked at the web  site and typed in flowery field schools, but could not find any photos of the schools.  Only one of Ashton Bros Mill, in the 1920's said flowery field area, is that the photo you  meant???

Barbara, that web page search function is very "word specific", and needs exact spelling.

Type in:  flowery field school

It then shows the images.  But if you still have problems, I can let you have the direct web links to the pictures.

If you can wait until after the school holidays ie September then I can get photographs for you of Flowery Field School, as this is where my niece attends school.

HI Dee,

Thanks also for your email back regarding trying to get photos of flowery field Infants, Junior, and /or secondary schools.
Yes I will wait till you can do it in September if possible.

I appreciate that very much, I used to go to infants, junior and secondary, I left in March 1961 at the age of 15.
I used to live in Elizabeth St off Manchester road Hyde, then later lived at Clarendon Road Hyde.
I emigrated  here to Australia in 1967.
Do you live in Hyde, or near by?

Regards
