Superb!

What a fantastic bit of research.
Thank you ever so much for the help on this. I had always wanted to have a look through the local parish registers for Newborough and Glinton but given my distance from the area i had always intended going at a later date...
Given the proof the research can go on.
It's good to be able to go back on both sides of her family - what a change it makes from all the other unknown / no recorded fathers on birth / marriage certificates. And it's good to see that John Crowson remained present in his daughters life. I will endeavour to find out what happened to him - whether or not he married Mary Robinson or just remained a part of Ann's life.
Thanks again fr your time and help

I've just had a look on the 1881 census and seems to have answered the query i just posted:-

There is a John Crowson living with wife Mary (born Glinton) and granddaughter Mary C Whitfield. Looks like John did indeed marry Mary following the birth of their illigimate daughter. All the research fits for this.
It almosts sounds like a 21st century approach to relationships and families given the birth of the child and marriage of parents there-after.

Thanks again for those who helped me with this result.

There is a marriage that is possible in the G.R.O. indexes.
