Where did Timothy originate?

My GGrandfather originated in Ireland inthe 1850's, and then travelled to live in NORTHWICH Cheshire. His name was TIMOTHY NAUGHTON/KNOCTON/NORTON, although the family eventually settled on NAUGHTON as the official spelling. He married SABINA STANTON in Northwich in about 1857. Can anyone outthere tell me how I can establish just wher Timothy was born in Ireland?

Hello  Coco pops,

The only male Christian name you've given is Timothy. Hope that he was named after his Dad or Grand
Dad and one of them is listed in Griffiths Valuation of Ireland 1848-64. There are seven or eight Timothy Naughtons listed.

      He certainly wasn't named after his Father, but I have no idea re:- his Grandad's name. However, any help is much appreciated, so will follow your lead. Many thanks,

Hello cocopops,
just  small correction - you say Timothy 'originated' in Ireland in the 1850s- I am assuming you mean he emigrated from Ireland in 1850s. 1871 shows him born 1823.
Makes a difference if anyone is trying to search for him.

have looked through the censuse, neither Timothy, Sabina or their various lodgers ever indicate where in Ireland they come from -  :(

   Yes, that's my problem !! Why couldn't SOMEONE have stated where they originated from in Ireland? It would save my fingers being worn to the bone!!

Hiya Coco pops, 
May we have the names of the children of Timothy and Sabina please ??? Children were occasionally named after their grandfathers so that might well help in establishing the name of Timothy's father. The names of their girls may establish the name of his mother.

Hi Chris,

     Timothy's Father was called Edward and, as usual a son was named after him, although not his eldest who was named James. Sabina's mother was named  ? Sicelt or at least that is the spelling on the 1851 census. Sabina and Timothy had at least 1 daughter who was named Mary. Sabina's maiden name by the way, is STANTON

sorry to ask all this- are the Stantons in Northwich in 1851 too?
