Hi Jacky,

Do you have any further information on him?  I have checked the 1901 census for Lancashire and can only find two possibilities with a father John -one in Salford and one in Liverpool but neither has a father for a soldier.  There are non with the middle name of Bernard or B nor are there any that has a "missing father". Was he born in Lancashire?

Regards,
Mo

Hi

Can you clarify the spelling of his surname?  Your original message has both Finnegan and Finnigan

I suspect he may have been born in Ireland but you could check the full GRO index for a birth around 1891-1893.  Although you may find a number of John's - it should have his second christian as well which will help

Hi
Are you still looking into the Finnigan / Finnegan family?

My G Grandfather, Patrick Finnigan was born in the Ballinasloe area of Ireland but married in Salford, England in1859.

One of his sons was called John, born about 1863 and he had a younger brother Thomas, born 1879, my grandfather.

Patrick's father was called John and was born in Ireland I presume.
I would be grateful for any exchange of information.
Thanks
Coeuille,(France, Manchester) Finnigan,(Ireland, Manchester) Germaine, (France, Manchester) Shaw, Briggs,(Ireland, Manchester) Cregan (Ireland Manchester)

Hiya arthriticdonkey.

I have just lately found the family originate from Dundalk in Louth. My grandfather was born in Liverpool, although on his b cert it says John Bernard Finnegan, he was always called Bernard.

Sorry, it looks like we dont have a link.

Good Luck with your research  :)

Jacky
