Beahan's
« on: Thursday 05 July 07 21:21 BST (UK) »
Hello there. Does anyone have any links or info about the Beahan family from Dublin. My grandfather was Thomas Charles Beahan, born c 1890.. He worked on the Railways and died relatively young in the late 1920's leaving 5 small children.  I believe his father was also Thomas Charles Beahan but I have no information about his date of birth. I know he was still alive in the late 1920's early 30's. My Mum uses the spelling Beahan, which is on her birth certificate. but some of her siblings spelt it Behan.
After Thomas's death my Mum was brought up in Terenure but not sure if they lived there when her Dad was alive. There may also be links to Inchicore. Other than this and one photo of my Grandad, I know very little about the family particularly as Mum came to England in the 1940's.  We do think that my G Grandfather was in the British Army in India and so my grandfather could possibly have been born there but not sure if this is true.
Any help woud be great
Thanks

Hi,

If your G Grandfather was born in India then it might be worth your while keeping an eye on the Families In British India Society website as they are adding India Office Records, including baptisms, marriages and burials, to their searchable database all the time. You can search it online at http://www.search.fibis.org/frontis/bin/index.php

Have a look at www.dublinheritage.ie

Several references to Beahan including Thomas Beahan born 1894 in Lucan.

Hi all

I am also researching Behans, lots of brick walls.

My family are James Behan(born about 1874), married Annie (possibly gleeson or leeson) they came from the center of Dublin city as far as I know. And my grandfather Joseph Behan b 1901.

I have only been able to find death records for them, not births or marriage, so hit a brick wall.

Hi Maryderry,

Thanks for that, but unfortunatly thats not one of my behans, as far as I know, they seemed to be south Dublin based.

I just need one hint to start me off on the right path, but of course thats the very elusive hint ;)

thanks for the help
