Hi, do you have any photos. of the 'Commercial Inn", Commercial Road, Pontypool - owned by my ancestor JOHN WILKINSON in early 1800's.  He also apparently owned several houses in Wilkinson Row, next to the Inn.  Ruth MacLeod in Australia

Do you have a picture of the Ship Inn (or Hotel) in Crane Street, Pontypool?

My Gt Grandparents kept this pub c.1916-1920, their name was Pym, Benjeman and Mary.  Mary died at the pub in 1920, later my grandfather Henry John Banks took over as landlord.  My mother Ethel Banks was born there in 1925.  I do know that the Ship was demolished in the 1970s.

Wonder also if you have a photo of Forge Row, Pontypool?. (at Pontnewydd I believe - forgive the spelling though)  Little row of stone cottages which are still there to this day.  Benjeman and Mary Pym were living at number 7 Forge Row in 1901, with their children, which included my grandmother Emily, age 12.

Any chance of getting a close-up of Gravestone for WILKINSON grave in Trevethin graveyard, next to church of St. Cadoc's?  I have had a photo sent to me before of the actual large monument on the grave - red granite, four-sided but I would like to see the actual entries on it, if possible.  The graveyard was all overgrown but was cleared, but this gravestone still stands, about six feet tall by the look of it.       Entries should read:  John Wilkinson, Collier (and owner of Commercial Inn) died 1893 and his wife Margaret (nee Jones) died in 1895. 
Also son Richard Wilkinson, died 1855, at 16 yrs.
Also son of their dau. Annie Evans, (married to Edward Arthur Evans, (1850-1877)) - son was William B. Evans, b.1868 died 28 Nov. 1868, of burns, 8 mths.   Ruth MacLeod, in Australia

I don't know if your offer still stands but if so I would very much appreciate a shot of Pontypool County School for Girls. I am helping a dear lady to recall some happy days and this would be very useful.

GOREU   GOLUD   GOLUD  GWYBOD
Can anyone help with the translation?

Thanks Wilcoxon for your interest. I had noticed and perhaps his field was so narrow that he lost interest. The photo is not really needed now as I got a picture out of their centenary book. It's the motto that's now the thing of the moment.
