Hi

I am looking for any information on a Susannah Wallace born in 1836, St Fosil in Cornwell and her daughter Alfreda Grace Hancock born in Calstock, Cornwell in 1859.  Alfreda Married a Samuel Launder in 1879 in Houghton Durham,  and the family were found living in Co. Durham, in the 1891 Census.
But I know nothing else about them including marriages and can't find any Cornish websites to enlighten me.

Hi s.k.,

Do tell us where you found the information you already have  :D
And any other details you may have about these people.

The more information you provide, the more it helps RootsChatters to help you  :D

Have you tried looking up these people on other sites which have been mentioned to you on your other threads e.g.:
* Ancestry (e.g. on censuses - you've indicated elsewhere that you have access so I take it you had already found the information which has been posted above by kind RootsChatters?)
* FamilySearch - free (including the IGI and also the 1881 England & Wales census)
* FreeBMD
etc, etc.

And a search on the Internet for Cornwall + genealogy (or on Genuki) gives many genealogical sites like those so kindly mentioned by Kris.

The birth of Alfreda Grace HANCOCK seems to be on FreeBMD? - Liskard, Dec qtr 1859.  Purchase of the certificate should give her father's name and occupation, and her mother's name and maiden name.

No doubt you've found this possibility for Alfreda Grace in the following household from the 1881 census on FamilySearch (free) -  no doubt it would also be on Ancestry:
RG11/4973/70/19
21 Shop Row, Newbottle, Durham
Samuel LANDER, 26, b Ullbridge Devon, Coal Miner
Grace LANDER, 21, b Colstock Cornwall
George W LANDER, Son, 1, b Philadelphia Durham

Back to you to advise RootsChatters further on the results of your searches and of certificates, and of any follow-up research you've done from Kris's work.

Hi Sue, Kris and Jap,

Thanks so much for the wonderful information, and the hard work put in.  And such a huge amount.
It's given me a new avenue to follow.  Also, Kris for the Cornish Websites. That should make life easier.

regards
