Hello
It was a nice surprise to hear from you. And exciting to learn a bit more about my paternal great grandfather and great grandmother.
I did not have the date or place of their marriage, so thank you very much for that information.
No, I do not have census documents of that area – any idea how I can access them?
If it’s not too much trouble I would really appreciate any photo of Doorpool if you can manage it – I’m very new to this too!
We know that John was 84 years old when he died, but not the year, and don’t have his or Mary’s date of birth. He is buried at Mount Barker cemetery, about 30 kilometres from where I live in Adelaide, South Australia, but the headstone is almost indecipherable, so I must chase up church records. Mary is also buried there and part of the headstone inscription reads “Mary, Beloved wife of John Hall, Formerly of Roxburghshire, Scotland.”
My wife and I are planning to travel to Europe next year and I would dearly love to get to Roxburgh and Doorpool to see where they lived.
Again, thank you so much for your help.
