Hello!
I wonder if anyone can advise on the above association? My grandfather was a member and I have his silver medal with two clasps dated 1933 and 1934. A number appears on the reverse side-358338 and his name, ROBERT WHITE.
I have contacted St. John's Ambulance, but haven't, as yet, received a reply. I wonder if anyone knows why Robert might have been given the medal -did all members have one? Since it is made of silver it seems rather valuable to be simply a membership badge. Is it possible that he did something special to earn him special recognition?
The badge is about 2 cm wide, is circular with "THE ST. JOHN AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION" around the outside and the cross of St. John in the middle. It has stems coming out of the circle to form a cross with a flower on each stem.
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who may be able to offer advice.
Thanks in advance,
Mark
