This is the only "Emma Clift" that I could find at all.

Emma CLIFT
Age: 62
Departed: 1925 from London
Arrived: Australia Sydney

I also tried the last name of "Cliff", but still no Emma

All,
I have only recently joined this website and saw the 2007 research into Emma Clift. She is a distant relation in my wife’s family. My mother-in-law remembers meeting Emma Clift in Brixham at her grandmother's (Anna Maria Langdon ) house in the early 1950s.  She remembers her Canadian accent and shock of white hair.

I have since found http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~vfarch/genealogy-data/wc38/wc38_077.html which shows Emma Trist Clift as one of the children of John Clift and Mary Trist.

I hope this is of interest and help in your search.

Emma Trist Clift is reported to have gone to Canada with John West, the Superintendent of Brixham boys home on 20th Dec 1892. She travelled as Emma West on the SS Mongolian from Liverpool to Halifax, Canada. She returned to Brixham in the early 1950s, and died in Brixham in 1955. She is buried with her brothers in St Mary's churchyard. I have a photograph of her gravestone if requested.

http://www.brixhammuseum.org.uk/index.php  The blue brixham book should have details on this. Contact Chris Potts at Brixham Museum on this link. We do research on the boys home and can be contacted at bsbh@live.co.uk
