Just wondering myself if you ever got to the bottom of this? I'm also trying to trace my GGG Grandfather William Rees (born either Llanidloes or Welshpool abt 1803). He too was a Shoemaker in Llanidloes and I'm wondering if your Edward Rees was perhaps his brother? I know that the shoemaking business did get passed down for quite some years as my mother remember the Rees shoe shop in Llanidloes when she visited as a small girl in the 1950's. Would love to know if you have got any further as I have hit a dead end!
