Dear Margaret
Visited yesterday, there are 2 marker stones with "J McL" on them. these were in amongst graves dated around 1860. The grave next to these is for the 'Traill' family. Interestingly David's son Sinclair was married to Elizabeth Johnstone, her mother was Elizabeth Traill.
I don't know why there were 2 stones. There may be 2 plots, perhaps my question below answers this.
Can you confirm that John's father was a John McLeod Married to Mary Fraser. They Were from Inveresk and and a son William in 1790. They were married in North Leith in 1787.

Hi Colin,

Thank you for finding these marker stones. My apologies for not answering you sooner, I have been having a break from genealogy research. I am descended from John and Ann's daughter, Isabella born 1819. I have John's parents as John McLeod and Elizabeth Storie. Are you descended from John and Ann?

Kind regards,
Margaret :)

Hi,  Do you have any record of a Marion Haldane, Tranent 1851, date she passed away; or Alexander Haldane, her dad, he passed away in 1842.
 Thank you, Ron.

Marion Haldane was born Menney Haldane in 19/06/1817, probably baptized then, in Haddington, married John Ewan in Auchterderran on 07/11/1845 still under the name of Menney, but changed it to MARION hereafter. She was listed in the 1851 census with John and 3 children. After this date she disappeared completely; strangely 1 year later John remarried an Isabella Duncan. All this took place in Auchterderren.
I did come across some evidence, Not Positive, that Marion died in 1851 in East Lothian, no town named.
Her father Alexander, born Haddington 21/01/1787, married Margaret Forrest who resided mostly in Prestonkirk  ; she died in 14/02/1871, Prestonkirk. I had evidence, again Not Positive, he died East Lothian, no town, 1846. But I believe he died Prestonpans 04/08/1842, clear evidence of that.
My premise is Elaine; If I can find where her father is interred she may be there too. That would mean she came from Fife in 1851-52 and died in East Lothian and I've got a hunch it may be Prestonpans with her dad.
Also the Haldane's predominate Prestonpans in the burial returns.
Many, many, thanks Elaine......................................................................Ron.
