Hi Rozzy,

Quoting from your other thread
Quote
George was born 14/2/1836, and Sarah was born 28/8/1836

I can see a Sarah in 1851, but she's Sarah Ann ...

HO107/1681 161 15
Basingstoke, Hampshire
Market Place

Sarah Ann Pigeon, serv, 14, Nursemaid, b. Basingstoke

in the household of William Pistell, Plumber Glazier & Painter and family.

Will see if I can find a better match  :)

Was going to say her age doesn't match but I see it's her christening that was on 28 August 1836, not her birth  8)

She's not at home in 1851:

Basingstoke
Potters Lane

Jacob Pidgeon, head, 50, Bricklayers Labourer
Eliza, wife, 51
Daniel, son, 21, Farmers labourer
James, son, 20, ditto
Charles, son, 12, ditto
Eliza, dau, 10, scholar
Henry, son, 8, scholar
William, son, 3

All born Basingstoke

Thanks Tati!!  You must have been waiting for my question  :)

Looks like you've got Sarah sewn up.  Is George as easy?

Thanks

George I don't know yet ....

I take it you're positive he's the one christened on 14 February 1836 Eastrop to parents James and Anne?

If so, then this one looks good:
1851
HO107/1681 271 8
Basingstoke
Basing? Road

James Cooper, head, 52, Ag lab, b. Hants Sherborne (something I can't read)
Anne, wife, 52, b. Cliddesden
Charles, son, 22, Ag lab, b. Basingstoke
George, son, 14, Tailors Apprentice, b. do.
+ 2 lodgers

1841
HO107/385/6 31 2
Basingstoke
Vinco's? Farm?

James Cooper, 50, Ag lab
Ann, 50
Charles, 13
John, 9
Susannah, 7
George, 5
Charlotte Hornet?, 70, Ind
James Pierce?, 25, Ag lab
William Franklin?, 13

All born in county.

given the other christenings in Eastrop to parents James and Anne Cooper:

Harriet 10 May 1818
Sarah Cooper - 15 Sep 1820
Charles Cooper - 25 June 1825
Charles Cooper - 22 July 1827
John Cooper - 15 May 1831
Susannah Cooper - 25 May 1834

Tati!!  You're Wonderful!!!

The 'birth' dates I have are from the death records, but I had no
parents names.

George arrived in Fremantle as an apprentice tailor so that certainly
does look like him!!  He worked in Fremantle as a tailor before becoming
a greengrocer with a tribe of kids!

Thanks so much Tati for all your help :)

Best wishes
Rozzy

I'm intrigued by your interest in George Cooper (1834-1909) He is my mother-in-law's grandfather. Her father was his son Harry who died in 1930.  Denise
