Many Thanks Jill
A lot of Roberts Childrens names match the Stoke Talmage Family. I can't get over the fact that William/Alice had seventeen children a new record on my tree13 before this.
Pity it did not say on Baptism who father was for Priscilla, she goes by name of Smith on all Census and Married as Smith, Robert would only have been 17 yrs old when she was born.
I have looked on 1841/51 censuses for children of Alice/Will
only found 3 a lot must have died.
                                 Best Wishes Alan.

Sorry  to butt in (Hi Jill) my interest is in Alice Ravening. I have a note of the marriage -  but wondered if there was any more info on her family? Richard Ravening b 1759 presumably at Stoke Talmage or Clare could possibly be a brother?

Hi Alan and others.
I believe that  Robert SMITH  (one of 9 children of Thomas and Lydia born at Great Hasely) is the brother of my ancestor Mary Ann .
I  hope you are still contactable , as your post is 3 years old!

Thomas SMITH and Lydia HARRISON married at Great Hasely in 1795 and had 4 ( not 9) children: John , Jane , Mary Ann, Robert.  Mary Ann married in Bucks in 1824. I haven't found a birth for Thomas, but I think Lydia was from Duston, Northants. Smith is a VERY hard to research and I am now hopeful of getting them sorted out!

A bit off- topic, but I see that William Smith of Pyrton had cow-pox 3 times between 1780 and 1794!

Hi There Kaoota
As you know from reading this thread that I was looking for the Birth/Baptism of Robert.

The only one found in the transcripts for the area was  the one I have got listed, you say that is not right he is the son of Thomas and Lydia, OK I am listening.
Have you got any baptism /births for Robert that i don't know about or any other info that is relevent if so I am very intrested because as you say the Smiths are very difficult to pin down.
                               Regards Alan.

No I don't say that is not right. What I said was that I believed  Robert to be the brother of my ancestor . Children in my Smith family were born in 1795, 1798 and 1800 and there are baptisms for them. It was not uncommon ( but very annoying for us) for parents to omit to baptise one or more of their children.
Great Hasely today is very small.....I find it hard to believe that it was ever very big... so what was the likelihood of it having more than one extended family with the same name .. even if it was Smith!  So the parents of Robert may well be Thomas and Lydia. I'm sorry if I misunderstood and took it that looking for a birth or baptism also meant looking for parents. Do you definitely know the parents?
If you are looking for them...and don't think they are Thomas and Lydia. The IGI has a Robert Smith
born 21 April 1803 and baptised 22 May 1803 at Chesham, Bucks... not too far away to Thomas and Hester (Stevens) I suppose you have seen it.

Hi all,
I just wanted to add info about
Thomas Smith (born773 Great Haseley, Oxfordshire)
married (m29 May 1795 Haseley Great, Oxfordshire)
to Lydia Harrison (5 May 1772 Great Haseley, Oxfordshire).

One of Thomas and Lydia's children John Smith born 12 Jul 1795 Haseley Great, Oxfordshire) married Elizabeth Arnold  (b 18 April 1794 Great Haseley, Oxfordshire).
Their first born also were twins so yes twins definately run in the Smith family.
I can confirm that John Smith sister Mary Buckingham.

John Smith had his twins
1816 Thomas and Susannah  in Great Haseley and his following children in Walington, Oxfordshire.
1817 Charlotte
1821 William
1823 Andrew
1826 George
1828 Eliza
1832 Harriet

John Smith, eldest child of Thomas and Lydia was born,1795 and died in 1877 (in Oatlands Tasmania, Australia.) His son George also died there too as they came together in 1849.

Hope that fills some gaps for some. :) :)
