Hi Kathleen

I have the Tisbury baptism and burial transcripts and had a look for Nathianel Moxham for you.

Nathaniel Moxam baptised 13th November 1825 son of Isaac and Sophia, lab, near Tisbury Mill

Siblings for Nathaniel

Jane Moxham baptised 12th October 1823, daughter of Isaac and Sophia , lab, near Tisbury Mill

Anna Maria Moxsam baptised 6th April 1828, daughter of Isaac and Sophia, lab, near mill

Edward Manuel Moxam baptised 18 July 1830, son of Isaac and Sophia,  lab, nr mill

Emily Moxam baptised 23rd September 1832, daughter of Isaac and Sophia, lab, near mill

Ellen Moxam baptised 22nd March 1835, daughter of Isaac and Sophia, lab, near Mill

Baptism of Nathaniels father Isaac

Isaac Moxam baptised 14th September 1777 son of Isaac and Mary

Burial for Isaac

Isaac Moxham burial 17th November 1834, 57y, Mill Lane

Possible burial for Isaac the elder

Isaac Moxam burial 26th April 1830, 84y, workhouse

Possible burial for Isaacs mother Mary

Mary Moxham burial 17th June 1810, died 13th

There is no baptism for Isaac's father Isaac recorded in Tisbury.
There are quite a few Moxhams though so if there are any other names you need looking up let me know.
Did have a look for Martha Osmond and the only baptism was in 1808 which i thought was a bit early. There are lots of Osmonds though so let me know if there are any other names.
Hope this helps

Hi Cathy,

In my records, I have Isaac Moxham (Nathaniel's father) born about 1786.

Is there a record showing this?

I will accept your kind offer and ask if there is a record for the parents of James Osmond, b. 1801 Tisbury who married Mary? b. about 1811 Tisbury?  Their children:  Sarah 1826, William 1831, Emma 1835, Betsy 1837, John 1839, and, of course, Martha 1829.

Thanks again,

Kathleen

Hi Kathleen

Thankyou for the welcome. Yes i am new to Rootschat, thought i would give another site a try. Have had a look in the records and the only James Osmond was baptised 15 september 1811 baseborn son of Elenor Vine and Joseph Osmond. Sometimes male children seemed to have been baptised in th RC Chapel in Tisbury. I have had a family where all the girls were baptised in thechurch but not the boys.
None of the children of James and Mary are listed which makes me think they were all baptised in the RC Chapel and unfortunately i don't have those records.
In  1835 when Tisbury was to be split into 3 parishes ie: East Tisbury, West Tisbury and Wardour a census was taken. I have a copy of this from WFHS and here are your Moxhams

Sophia married, Charles son, Jane dau, Nathaniel son, Anna dau, Emanuel son, Emily day, (Wd)

Sophia was widowed by 1835 but it does tell you in the accomapying info that sometimes dead was written after a name when in fact they were still alive! And that some people are entered more than once.
The letters in brackets are the parish they were in. Wd being Wardour.

Your Osmonds
James, Mary wife, Sarah dau, Martha dau, William son, Emma dau (E)

Tomorrow i have a bit more time so i will list all the Moxhams and Osmonds in the census so you will have them for future reference and they may tie in somewhere for you.
Hope this helps
