Edward and Muriel Stormont
« on: Tuesday 26 June 07 17:31 BST (UK) »
Please can someone do a lookup for me on this couple. believe that edward may have died but that his wife Muriel is still alive. Think they may have lived in the St Catherines area of Ontario and originally came from Arbroath, Scotland. They were definately living in Canada in 1963 as my cousin came and stayed with them.

Any info appreciated

Anne Marie

Muriel Stormont was my sister, and was born in England.  She died recently in St Catharines.  If you want more information about her, or her late husband Edward (Jim) Cooper Stormont (born in Arbroath), let me know.  I have just joined the site and seen your message.  Maybe you got your answers some time ago!

Im sorry to hear that Muriel has passed away. Edward (Jim) was my grandads brother. My grandad was James and he was the eldest child of 10, I think. He passed away in 1966 or 67. My dad was John Edward, but known as Jack. Dad died in 2007. Dads cousin Janet is still alive and lives in Broughty Ferry. Her dad was Jack, he was married to Nora who was his second wife and they lived in Carnoustie. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply and the information.  Seems the Stormonts had a habit of not using their real christian names!  Muriel used to speak about Janet, and had met her.  Edward (Jim) Stormont died in 1971.  There were no children.  Jim originally arrived in Canada on 24 April 1924 onboard the ship Montclare, when he was 29 - and that just about completes my knowledge of the Stormonts!

Thanks for your kind offer, but I'll decline this time.  If Muriel & Jim had had children then it would have been nice to have built up the picture that side, but it's hard enough chasing all the links on Muriel's side!!  So far that's back to 1610.
