darroch/lundy
« on: Sunday 24 June 07 20:11 BST (UK) »
I am seeking any information about edward darroch and his wife elizabeth lundy.  Their daughter eileen darroch was born in 1918 in, I think, the Belfast area.

I would be grateful for any assistance with this.

Hi Mary

Thank you so much - this is brilliant information for me.  We have a family story that a Darroch ancestor was hung on the walls of derry.  One story says he was a sheep stealer.  the other is much more interesting and says that he was a double traitor.  I hope to investigate this and find out what his crime really was.

regards

Hi maryderry

Thanks for this.  I'm not sure about their origins but given the marriage info I guess that they were from belfast.

Hi mary - no, i did not know about this traitor Lundy.  i wonder if he might be the source of the story.  all i know is that my gt aunt eileen b1918,  is supposed to have had an ancestor who was hung on the walls at derry.  one story says he stole sheep - the other that he was a double traitor i.e. hung by his own people!

i am only connected through marriage but this seemed like a very interesting tale worth investigating.
